NEW YEAR, NEW RIDE ---------------------------------------- Welcome to Higher Education Area Transit, Greensboro's first college and university based public transportation system. HEAT offers service on seven local routes serving local institutions of higher learning as well as other select locations. HEAT and GTA services are available to anyone, and students of partner schools can ride fare-free! HEAT has now begun the third year of service in Greensboro. Riders will find a new ride this year with the previous HEAT buses having been replaced by a new fleet of 32-passenger buses. The extra capacity will accomodate the growing ridership on HEAT. Of course, the new buses have been "pimped" with the familiar HEAT design scheme. Also new this year, Route 72 City HEAT has been extended to serve the Fulton Place Apartments on West Lee Street linking additional student housing with the city campuses and all other HEAT/GTA destinations.
